This module will enable students to understand how markets operate. The pressure on, and behaviour of, firms in alternative market forms will be considered, as will the behaviour of the UK economy and in its national and international context. The reasons for government intervention and the nature of economic policy will feature prominently. The module is particularly suitable for students intending to study Economics as part of their second year studies or students who are reading for an accountancy degree. Completion of this module will provide students with a good grounding in micro and macro economic principles.
